About Just Words.
Just Words is a cultural lecture and conversation series built around a simple idea: meaningful conversations can change the way we see ourselves, our communities, and the world around us. We bring together professors, researchers, artists, performers, and community voices to explore the ideas, histories, experiences, and questions shaping Black and POC communities, both domestically and abroad. We believe that these communities are too often made to feel that their thoughts hold no meaning, their experiences have no value, and their voice has no place. With Just Words, that changes.
Our intention is not to tell you what to think, but simply to encourage you to care about the thoughts of others. These are spaces to listen, question, challenge our assumptions, exchange ideas, and leave with something new to consider.
Too often, people—particularly people of color—aren't given enough opportunities to recognize the value of their own perspectives. Just Words exists to do just that. It is a community of culturally and intellectually curious people who seek to ask questions, reconsider what they think they know, and learn from one another. Because sometimes the most powerful thing you can bring to a conversation isn't an answer. It's a thought worth sharing.
